Working In Music

I started this blog while managing my e-commerce store and never really write about anything else, so I’m switching gears to talk a little bit about the music industry. I have a music business degree, and it’s always been my #1 goal to work in the music industry. I worked really hard in college to make sure I could accomplish this. I moved to Nashville to pursue the industry even though it was during the final quarantine months of Covid. I knew I needed to go somewhere with opportunity.

I moved to Nashville in February and I wasn’t looking for jobs right away. I was trying to focus on the e-commerce side of things and wait for a little until I started the long journey of trying to find a job in the industry. After a few months, I started to get fed up with e-commerce and the inconsistency of it. I still have my store and I still run it, but it’s not my top priority anymore. If anything, the e-commerce journey road I went down during Covid was extremely beneficial for me in terms of teaching myself things like marketing, Facebook Ads, SEO, website development, and more.

Fast forward to June 2021 and I finally got an amazing position with Music City Media on Music Row, a boutique music PR company. It’s been a lot of fun so far and I really enjoy the work I am doing there. I get to work with artists on a daily basis, discuss future plans and help develop their careers with the amazing people I work with.

I look forward to writing again when I have more to say about the industry, and although still very new to my first paid industry job, I have nothing but amazing things to say. It’s only up from here.
